DAMN THE PAST! is one of the most fun shorts I've watched this year. It was able to accomplish the near-impossible task of getting the three exhausted and delirious festival women to genuinely smile at 4:00PM, the point of the day when you look around and notice everyone's looking a little peaked. Someone stuck it in the DVD player and there was such a quick transition from the frazzled exhaustion to a quiet kind of curiosity after the first :30 seconds. After 2 minutes, you saw smiles sidle onto faces. It was like being unexpectedly wrapped in a blanket of earnestness that for a minute made me forget what I was stressing about a few moments earlier.
