Neville Umbrellaman is a verbose, velvet-voiced intellectual who hosts a late-night radio show from his parents’ garage. The alter ego of Rabindranath Chakraborty, Umbrellaman is deeply committed to the program, a labour of love and fantastical fancy that masks deeper, more tragic truths. Luckily, he’s got plenty of eccentric guests to help him out, from folk singer Kenneth Wong to Chakraborty’s secret crush, Sabrina D’Angelo. But is anybody tuning in? THE LONELY SPIRITS VARIETY HOUR is a hilarious, wonderfully weird delight.

        Platon Theodoris is an Australian film director, producer, and screenwriter. He has received two MTV Asia Awards for his work in directing music videos and commercials. His short films have screened at festivals in Vancouver, Singapore, Brisbane, Busan, and more. He holds a B.A. in Asian Studies from the University of New South Wales. THE LONELY SPIRITS VARIETY HOUR is Theodoris’ second feature film and builds on the warped whimsy of his debut feature film, ALVIN’S HARMONIOUS WORLD OF OPPOSITES.
