Born in Daegu, Korea, in 1928 under Japanese occupation, Lee Yong-soo was kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery at the age of 14. 80 years later, she is now one of fewer than twelve South Korean “comfort women” to have survived a system that claimed more than 200,000 women and girls from 1932—1945. She continues to fight for justice for a crime the Japanese government has continually denied and suppressed.
