The Ocean Duck

The Ocean Duck

Directed By Huda Razzak, My Anh Ngo

USA | Narrative | 7 min

A woman visits her ailing grandmother in a hospital during a flood, bringing back fond memories of the past – spilling over into fantastical visions in the present – as an ancient tale comes to life.

THE OCEAN DUCK, an animated short film directed by Huda Razzak and co-directed by My Anh Ngo, combines the beauty of ancient poetry and illuminated manuscripts with the modern story of a young woman and her grandmother. It is based on a poem in Rumi’s Masnavi, describing a duck that is raised by chickens, despite its true home being the ocean – a symbol for the eternal.
