Amidst the Chinese Cultural Revolution, a young man is awoken to the sounds of a Red Guard march. He immediately rushes to join them, hastily putting on his clothes and opening his drawer to grab his copy of MAO’S LITTLE RED BOOK and his Red Guard armband. As he rummages through his drawer, he unexpectedly comes across an old family photo. He ponders the photo, then looks at the portrait of Mao hanging overlooking him and his room. Ultimately, after a contemplative moment, he tears the photo, dons his arm band, bows to Mao, and leaves to join the Red Guards.
